Family Initiative provides support to individuals with Autism their families. We host a weekly playgroup as well as a monthly parent group in Fort Myers, with additional programs being launched in coming months. Our ASD Playgroup provides a safe and supportive environment for youth ages 5-16 to meet with other children to develop socialization skills and to build friendships each week. This group is supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Masters Level Social Worker and staff are experienced in Applied Behavior Analysis and/or Social Work. Each of our clinicians offer a high level of skill and are able to support each child's unique needs while promoting positive social interaction in a fun environment. Our ASD Parent Training/Support Group provides a supportive setting for parents to meet, network, and talk about how to best meet both their needs and their children's. We work closely with the participating families to identify areas and topics which they self-select as challenges or barriers in their lives. We pursue local and statewide speakers to present and educate on these topics each month to provide the families with information which they find extremely valuable.
